Hi.
When I was a kid a friend of my father’s gave me a Bible as a gift. As I child I wasn’t really interested in religion. I did, however, go to Church with the family each Sunday, but for me this was more of a ritual rather than anything else. What I did enjoy as a child was to read. And so one day I decided that I would read the Bible cover to cover. I have to say that it wasn’t easy reading and I found the Old Testament the hardest to follow. I found the story of Jesus in the New Testament the most interesting but I suppose this was because I was used to hearing sermons in Church which often read passages from Jesus’s life and preaching.
As I got older, got married, had children of my own, I began to appreciate the wisdom in the Bible. I have to say that the language wasn’t easy to follow and to draw meaning from it was even harder. When we read a book, we take in what we read in a literal sense. But the words in the Bible mustn’t be taken literally. They have hidden meanings. And that’s what the priest tries to uncover for us during Sunday Mass. But why should we have to wait till each Sunday to discover the wisdom of the Bible? Why cannot the Bible’s knowledge be available to us on demand?
It was with these questions in mind that I decided to launch a series of websites to make the Bible and its wisdom available to everyone at any time that they need it. This website focuses entirely the Gospel According to Saint Matthew. Matthew, as we all know, was one of the 12 apostles of Jesus and together with Mark, Luke and John is one of the 4 evangelists.
I hope you find my site dedicated to the Gospel according to St. Matthew interesting. Thank you for visiting it. I hope you can get the same wisdom from the Gospel as I have been able to over the years.
